What our registration covers
Protec Elec Ltd is NAPIT registered. In practice that means we are assessed against the national standard and authorised to self-certify the electrical work we carry out, including notification under Part P where the work requires it.
It also means you do not pay a separate building control fee on notifiable work, and you do not wait on a third-party inspector to sign off a job we have already tested.
What you actually receive
For most jobs, an Electrical Installation Certificate with a schedule of test results — the readings, circuit by circuit. For smaller alterations to an existing circuit, a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate.
The schedule of results is the part people are rarely given and should always ask for. It is the evidence that the installation was tested rather than just installed, and it is what a solicitor, surveyor or insurer will want to see.
Being straight about what we don't cover yet
Our current registration covers certification of our own installations. It does not yet cover EICRs — periodic inspection reports on existing installations, the kind landlords need.
That qualification is in progress. Until it is complete we will tell you so rather than take the work, and we are happy to point you towards someone who can carry one out.

Questions about electrical certification.
Do you carry out EICRs or landlord certificates?
Not at present. Our registration covers certifying our own installations. The qualification for periodic inspection is in progress — we'd rather say so than take work we're not currently accredited for.
Will I need building control involved?
Not separately. As a NAPIT registered installer we self-certify notifiable work and notify it ourselves, so there's no separate building control application or fee.
